Great great great video! Everytime I've looked up information about traditional Japanese music and scales it always felt confusing and I never was able to really grasp how things actually worked, but the way you've brought the knowledge through understandable communication and plausible sources has made me understand it, thank you! Because there are less and less people who are doing traditional Japanese music I have a fear that some of this information has the chance of being lost forever. So this was just one of many.

I am a cultural studies student and I am currently writing a general article about buddhist music in Japan. The research material available in English is rather scarce and vague; and I know only the basics of Japanese, too little to do research in it (at this point enough only to know how to check if the machine translation is correct). Your videos are so helpful, どうもありがとうございます! I believe this topic deserves much more attention, it is a very rich and nuanced cultural heritage. I am planning to research buddhist music further and hopefully write PhD in the topic of ritual music between different religions, so maybe I will have chance to learn more about it... well, for now it still is - as we say in Polish - a song of the future. But I'm looking forward to it. PS. I agree with @popupexistence9253, your singing is great! Much better than many shomyo recordings I have listened to; it was much easier for me to delve into it.
